Description

ONLINE: The 4 Noble Truths as a Restorative Process: Manifesting Agents of Change for People of Color

with Rev. Liên Shutt

Saturday, May 23rd 9:30 - 3:30PM

Does “The 4 Noble Truths” just seems like another list to memorize?

What are “truths”? How did we learn them? How do familial, cultural, and/or institutional systems promote, validate, and/or collude? Join Rev. Liên Shutt to see how my reframed “Engaged 4 Noble Truths” can reflect our multi-dimensional, lived experiences as people of color. Meditative, reflective, and interactive exercises will be used throughout the day to support us to see how these seemingly passive “truths” to be more active and meaningful. We’ll expand their traditional framing to see how they also support an engaged practice, enlivening us with agency.

Registered participants will receive a link to join us via Zoom with their EventBrite confirmation.

EBMC TEACHERS ARE NOT PAID BY THE CENTER. You are invited to offer a voluntary financial gift to them at the class. The East Bay Meditation Center operates using a generosity-based, gift economics model. This means we charge no set registration fees to attend our events and instead rely on the generous giving of our community. All classes at the Center do come with a financial cost. Class participants are offered an opportunity to make a voluntary gift to EBMC during the registration process or at an event itself. Please note that no one will be turned away for lack of funds. If you would like to explore any EBMC volunteer positions, please send an email expressing your interest to admin@eastbaymeditation.org.
